Wire clip connector system from Live Electronics

News Release from: Live Electronics
16 July 2008

A new wire clip connector system, manufactured by Provertha and available through specialist electronics distributor, Live Electronics, eliminates the cost and trouble of soldering individual wires to PCBs as a secondary operation. The unique wire-to-board fixed connection system uses a patented soldering aid to ensure quick and reliable connection of individual wires or multi-core cables to the board.

Wire clip connector system from Live ElectronicsSupplied pre-assembled and tested, saving the user time and labour costs, the new wire clip system features a built-in locking clip which mechanically anchors the connector to the PCB prior to soldering; it also serves as a cable strain-relief. The wires themselves form the contacts, eliminating any need for crimps or additional contact elements, thereby removing potential failure points.

The vertical or horizontal mount connector system is low profile standing only 4.5mm above the board. Terminations are on a standard 2.54mm pitch, 2, 4 and 6-pole options are available as standard, and the connectors suitable for AWG18 – AWG26 wire thickness. The wire clip connector system features excellent vibration resistance and is suitable for use with manual or flow-soldering processes.

Claire Childs, Live Electronics MD commented: “Provertha originally developed this product for the automotive industry and they are used in the steering wheels of top of the range cars because of their low profile and resistance to vibration. Provertha has also had great success in industrial applications, as the system enables single or multi-core cables to be quickly connected to the board as part of an automated flow-soldering process.”
