The HM.16 motor-mount connector from Tyco Electronics is said to simplify the installation and maintenance of wind power turbines. The connector consists of a cast-aluminium housing that accepts various inserts from the HTS industrial connector family, an interface seal for IP65 protection, and a nickel-plated steel locking lever. The housing is available in several sizes to fit standard motor cutouts so that no motor redesign is required. The mounting footprint can be adjusted to fit the motor's dimensions, up to 140 mm x 140 mm.

Micro-USB connectors from JAE Europe exceed accepted performance benchmarks

Designers seeking space savings by using Micro-USB interconnects are said to gain extra features, additional footprint savings and greater durability with the JAE DX4 series Micro-USB receptacles and cable assemblies. The JAE DX4 series type-B and type-AB receptacles meet all specifications of the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) for Micro-USB, and include enhancements to the internal design to prevent lifting of the contact. A stronger insert moulding also enhances contact retention force, and the stainless shell material used is more rugged than the basic copper alloy accepted by the USB-IF documentation. With these enhancements the DX4 series achieves extraction force of 8N and mating durability of 10,000 cycles.

JAE Europe has enhanced its MX34 series automotive connector family to handle higher currents and to ease assembly. It has also embarked on testing for qualification to the USCAR standard. The MX34 current rating has been increased more than 200% to 10A per way dependent on derating curve* and the maximum operating temperature range has also risen, to 105ºC. The connector headers are now plated on all four sides, which simplifies the wave soldering process. Other connectors typically have their pins stamped, leaving two sides open as bare metal.
