Agilent Technologies Signs Agreement to Acquire Assets of A2 Technologies; Deal to Expand Agilent's Spectroscopy Portfolio

Agilent and A2 Technologies today announced they have signed a definitive agreement for Agilent to acquire specific assets of A2 Technologies. The acquisition includes substantially all of A2 Technologies' intellectual property, technology, employees and its spectroscopy product portfolio. Subject to customary closing conditions, the transaction is expected to be final in mid-February. Financial details were not disclosed.

Aeroflex Agrees to Acquire Spectrum Analzyer Assets from LIGNEX-1

Aeroflex Limited ("Aeroflex" or the "Company"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Aeroflex Holding Corp. (NYSE:ARX) announced today it has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire the spectrum analyzer assets from LIGNex1 Co., Ltd ("LIGNex1"). These products include the 2399C, 2394A, 2395A spectrum analyzers as well as the newer 3250 Series spectrum analyzers, along with all the respective intellectual property. Micron Technology, Inc., Reports Results for the First Quarter of Fiscal 2011

Micron Technology, Inc., (Nasdaq:MU) today announced results of operations for its first quarter of fiscal 2011, which ended December 2, 2010. For the first quarter, the company had net income attributable to Micron shareholders of $155 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, on net sales of $2.3 billion. The results for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 compare to net income of $342 million, or $0.32 per diluted share, on net sales of $2.5 billion for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010, and net income of $204 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, on net sales of $1.7 billion for the first quarter of fiscal 2010.

On December 31, 2010, Rogers Corporation signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of the stock of Curamik Electronics GmbH, a manufacturer of power electronic substrate products headquartered in Eschenbach, Germany, for €116 million (subject to closing adjustments). The acquisition will be financed through a combination of borrowings under existing bank credit facilities and cash and is expected to close this week.

Knowles’ MEMS Microphones Infringe Analog Devices’ Patent says ITC

Analog Devices announced today that the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled decisively in favour of Analog Devices in its lawsuit against Knowles Electronics. Administrative Law Judge Robert K. Rogers, Jr. concluded that Knowles infringes valid claims from one of ADI's Wafer Anti-Stiction Application (WASA) patents. Specifically, he ruled that Knowles infringes claims 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 from ADI's U.S. Pat. No. 7,364,942. As a result, ADI expects the ITC to issue an exclusion order prohibiting Knowles and its U.S. Distributor from importing or selling all infringing microphones in the United States. Additionally, ADI expects to recover damages on all past sales of Knowles' microphones through its pending lawsuit against Knowles in Delaware.

National Semiconductor today reported sales of $390.4 million and net income of $83.5 million, or 34 cents per diluted share, for the second quarter of fiscal 2011, which ended Nov. 28, 2010. National's second quarter sales were 5 percent lower than the $412.0 million in sales reported in the first quarter of fiscal 2011 due to lower demand from OEMs and distributors in all regions. Sales in the second quarter of fiscal 2011 were 13 percent higher than the $344.6 million reported in the second quarter of fiscal 2010.
