ALPS Offers TDGA6 Series of Compact HD RadioTuner Modules for Automotive Applications

News Release from: ALPS ELECTRIC EUROPE GmbH
27 June 2011

ALPS ELECTRIC EUROPE GmbH offers with the TDGA6 series compact HD Radio tuner modules for automotive applications that have been pre-certified by the US-based iBiquity Digital Corporation for worldwide use with its HD Radio technology.

ALPS Offers TDGA6 Series of Compact HD RadioTuner Modules for Automotive ApplicationsThe vertically and horizontally deployed modules have shielded enclosures with a 21 pin out and dimensions of 51.5mm x 38.0mm x 9.0mm (W x D x H). They cover input frequency ranges on the AM band from 530kHz to 1710kHz and on the FM band from 87.9MHz to 107.9MHz. They are controlled via I2C bus. The HD radio tuners are rated for supply voltages of 5.0V or 1.2V. The impedance of the antenna (unbalanced) is 75Ω (FM) or 1 MΩ (AM). The modules meet the automotive temperature specifications of –40°C to +85°C.

HD Radio receivers equipped with ALPS tuner modules will require fewer certification tests, reducing the amount of work in the development stage and thereby lowering overall costs. The HD Radio tuner modules were developed using ALPS’ expertise in high frequency wave technology and can receive both analog AM/FM and HD Radio signals. The modules are remarkable for their high sensitivity, low phase noise and excellent distortion characteristics and feature a programmable AGC (Automatic Gain Control) that provides a stable output signal of 125 mVms.

The TDGA6 modules comply with the RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances) directive and are available in minimum packing units of 500 pieces.
