TI spins out eight new motor drivers for stepper, brushed DC motors
Texas Instruments Incorporated today expanded its DRV8x motor driver family with eight new devices supporting up to 5 A for higher-current bipolar stepper and brushed DC motors. The new DRV8x motor drivers provide RDSon as low as 100 milliohms, more than 60 percent less than the previous generation, enabling higher current and better thermal performance. Microstepping options within the family include up to 256 microsteps and greater with an external microcontroller or up to 32 microsteps with an on-chip indexer.

Texas Instruments introduced the first quad-channel, 16-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for medical imaging applications, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The ADS5263 meets designers' needs for clear, crisp signals and faster acquisition times by delivering a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 84.6 dBFS with 10-MHz input and a sampling frequency of up to 100 MSPS. Along with high performance, the quad-channel architecture, low power consumption of 380 mW/channel and small footprint of the ADS5263 allow engineers to design smaller, more compact medical imaging systems than were previously possible with existing single- or dual-channel devices.

Linear Technology announced a family of low power 14-bit, 80Msps, 105Msps and 125Msps octal µModule ADCs that provide excellent AC performance and low power in a small form factor. The LTM9011-14 is an octal 14-bit, 125Msps ADC with 73.1dB signal to noise ratio (SNR) and 88dB spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) at baseband. Power dissipation is only 140mW per channel.

Zero-Drift Amplifier From Analog Devices Achieves Industry’s Lowest Voltage Noise
Analog Devices introduced today the industry's lowest-noise, zero-drift operational amplifier. The ADA4528 zero-drift op amp is designed for instrumentation and medical applications that require precision over time and temperature without system calibration. The breakthrough design achieves an ultra-low integrated voltage noise of 99 nVp-p over 0.1 Hz - 10 Hz meaning that the ADA4528 delivers a 26 percent lower voltage noise at 40 percent less power consumption than the closest competing amplifiers. This improves system SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) and lowers the noise floor, enabling 24-bit resolution over 150 kHz in A/D converters while improving system accuracy.

Intersil's MegaQ Adaptive Equalizer Named Best Video Equalizer of 2010 by EN-Genius Network
Intersil announced its ISL59605 adaptive equalizer IC, also known as MegaQ, has been named a 2010 Product of the Year by EN-Genius network. MegaQ was selected in the best video equalizer category for its ability to provide composite video images over a mile, or 1.6 kilometers, of cable.
