Renesas Technology Europe announces dual-type power MOSFET
Renesas Technology Europe has announced the forthcoming availability in Europe of the RJK0383DPA, a dual-type power MOSFET for synchronous rectification DC/DC converters. The new device achieves higher power supply efficiency and can be used for memory or ASICs in products such as laptop PCs and communication devices. Sample shipments will begin in October 2008.

This driver, combined with power MOSFETs and one of Linear Technology's many DC/DC controllers, forms a complete high efficiency synchronous regulator that can be used as a step-down or step-up DC/DC converter.
TI processor for portable graphics devices
Texas Instruments has announced what it says is its lowest-cost digital media processor, the TMS320DM335 device, for applications driven by advanced image capture and display requirements. Consumers will now be able to have enhanced interaction with their electronic devices such as Internet radio, e-books, video surveillance products and digital telescopes through feature-rich graphical user interfaces (GUIs). Powered by an ARM926EJ-S core up to 270 MHz, the DM335 digital media processor integrates a video processing subsystem (VPSS) so developers can easily add high-definition video display at 720p on their new class of portable applications.

Microchip announces the MCP1415 and MCP1416 (MCP141X) single-output MOSFET drivers. The inverting MCP1415 and non-inverting MCP1416 MOSFET drivers are rated for a peak output current of 1.5A, over a wide operating voltage range of 4.5V – 18V. Both devices have excellent latch-up immunity and are available in a miniature 5-pin SOT-23 package.

NEC Electronics Introduces EMMA Digital SoCs for Next-Generation H.264 Video Standard
NEC Electronics has introduced two image-processing solutions based on their enhanced multimedia architecture (EMMA) platform. The new EMMA3SL/HD and EMMA3SL/SD devices enable users to build set-top boxes (STBs) or Digital TVs with next-generation H.264 video compression, which offers twice the compression ratio of the current MPEG2 standard. The EMMA3SL/SD system-in chip (SoC) supports standard-definition video broadcasts, while the EMMA3SL/HD SoC supports high-definition broadcasts. The devices are the latest additions to NEC Electronics' H.264 EMMA3 family which have achieved market success since 2006 in Blue Laser DVD players and HDTV products.
Toshiba’s low noise amplifier offers built-in bypass circuit in small and thin packages
Toshiba Electronics Europe has extended its family of SiGe amplifiers by integrating a low noise amplifier (LNA) with a bypass function into a single MMIC (monolithic microwave integrated circuit). The TA4029 helps to minimise power consumption in applications such as mobile TV. It also offers improved dynamic range and distortion characteristics of the tuner circuit by switching to low power bypass mode when high gain operation is not needed. The device is ideal for digital terrestrial and mobile TV tuner applications, as well as other VHF-UHF designs where input signal strengths are variable yet where low current consumption and good linearity are critical.
