Renesas Technology Europe announced today the immediate availability of the H8SX/1725F 32-bit CISC MCU. The device has a split embedded MONOS*1 Flash module, 256KByte high speed Flash for code and 16KByte high endurance Flash for data. The speed of the code Flash is 12.5ns, with a roadmap to deliver 10ns capability in 2009, when the device will be available in a 90nm shrink version.

TI introduces lowest power, 12- and 14-bit, 1-MSPS SAR analog-to-digital converters
Texas Instruments Incorporated today introduced four low-power analog-to-digital converters that reduce power consumption while providing high performance for precision applications. The 12-bit ADS7229 and ADS7230 and the 14-bit ADS7279 and ADS7280 combine a 1-MSPS successive approximation register ADC with inherent sample and hold and a conversion clock. The devices are designed for applications that require excellent AC and DC performance, high sampling rates and the lowest power consumption, such as portable medical instruments, multi-channel data acquisition systems and automated test equipment.

Designers today that must integrate multiple digital signal processors (DSPs) on a board in order to handle performance-hungry tasks, such as simultaneously processing on multiple channels or executing multiple software applications concurrently, can now realize significant cost, power and board space savings with a new high performance multicore DSP from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN). The TMS320C6474 integrates three of TI's industry-leading TMS320C64x+ cores running at 1 GHz each on a single die, delivering 3 GHz of raw DSP performance that consumes 1/3 less power at 2/3 less DSP cost over discrete processing solutions. The C6474 provides significant system integration for customers currently utilizing DSP farms for communications infrastructure, medical imaging, military communications and industrial vision inspection end equipments and markets.
ON Semiconductor Extends Current Range and Flexibility for Stepper Motor Designs
ON Semiconductor has announced that the company has extended its bipolar stepper motor control family to include two new Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) versions of a motor driver capable of peak currents up to 800 milliamp (mA) and for use with an external microcontroller for added flexibility. New Amplifier Family from National Semiconductor
National Semiconductor has introduced three new operational amplifiers (op amps) with integrated electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters that maintain the accuracy of analog systems by reducing the effects of radio frequency (RF) interference. The LMV83x op amps deliver the industry's highest EMI rejection ratio (EMIRR) of 120 dB, thereby eliminating EMI-induced errors. They also feature 3 MHz unity gain bandwidth while operating on only 240 uA of supply current. This yields a power-to-performance ratio of 80 uA per MHz, which places these devices among National's PowerWise family of energy-efficient products.
NEC Electronics Announces iDTV SoC
NEC Electronics has announced that it began sample shipments of the EMMA 3TL, a new SoC product for full high definition (HD) iDTV supporting the H.264/AVC next-generation video compression standard. EMMA3TL is an image-processing SoC integrating all the functionality needed for digital television on a single chip, including graphics and audio/video decoding. The new device will enable designers to develop iDTV for worldwide markets with lower cost.
