Silicon Laboratories has introduced the Si5315, a jitter-attenuating clock multiplier IC that meets or exceeds the performance, integration, frequency and jitter requirements for the 1G and 10G Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) market. The Si5315 is the industry's only SyncE clock multiplier IC to support 10G line encoding rates (161.13 MHz) in addition to SONET/SDH and Ethernet frequencies.
TI introduces third generation HD audio decoding DSP
In response to increased consumer demand for immediate access to their remote music collections and streaming Internet radio service on inexpensive, advanced systems, Texas Instruments has announced its third-generation DA830 and DA828 Aureus digital audio processors. The highly-integrated, dual-core DA8x product line offers the combined features of an ARM-based applications processor and an audio digital signal processor (DSP) core, as well as a wide range of peripherals.

CMOS Digital Photo IC for Colour Sensing
Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced the 12-bit digital output colour sensor Photo IC. The new S9706(X) device consists of a matrix photodiode array, coupled to a RGB (red, green and blue) filter matrix to give colour response. The device is combined with "in house" CMOS processing electronics and is all within a monolithic silicon chip. The output of the S9706(X) is in 12-bit digital format with the colour intensity of red, green and blue read out sequentially at potentially high speed.
Analog Devices' precision instrumentation amplifier front-end
Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) has introduced the AD8295, a highly integrated precision instrumentation amplifier front-end that uses 50 percent less board space than competing amplifier solutions for industrial and instrumentation applications. Incorporating a world-class instrumentation amplifier with two uncommitted operational amplifiers and two precision-trimmed matched resistors in a single 4-mm × 4-mm chip-scale package, the AD8295 in amp provides an integrated front end for industrial process controls, precision data acquisition systems, medical instrumentation equipment and Wheatstone bridge measurement applications.

XMOS has released a new package option for the G4 programmable device, the first member of the XS1-G4 family. Diodes Incorporated has introduced a single chip solution providing all the functionality required for driving low power single coil brushless DC fans and motors. The AH5792 integrates a Hall sensor and amplifier, complete digital control circuitry and a full bridge output driver in the low profile SOT553 package and will appeal in particular to low voltage micro-motors and ultra thin cooling fan applications.
TI introduces single-supply, auto-zero sensor amplifier
Texas Instruments has introduced a single-supply, auto-zero bridge sensor amplifier. Featuring programmable gain and offset, the PGA308 amplifies the sensor signal and provides digital calibration for zero (offset) and span (gain). A One-Wire, UART-compatible digital serial interface performs the calibration. The PGA308 is used as a building block for resistive bridge sensor conditioning and general data acquisition applications.

Analog Devices has broadened its new fourth generation SHARC family, the industry's highest-performance floating-point digital signal processors, by introducing a series of processors for industrial and instrumentation, automotive audio, and home theatre applications. Sharing the same higher-performance design as the pro audio version of the SHARC 21469 (commercial temperature range) introduced in October, at up to 450 MHz/2700 MFLOPS these newest processors more than double the total computational performance of the previous SHARC generation. A number of key features across the SHARC 2146x lineup contribute to this impressive performance and I/O throughput, including hardware accelerators, increased on-chip SRAM, a high-speed DDR2 SDRAM external memory interface, and link ports.

Microchip announces high-resolution, low-power delta-sigma ADCs
Microchip announces a new series of low-power, high-resolution delta-sigma analogue-to-digital Converters. The MCP3422, MCP3423 and MCP3424 (MCP3422/3/4) ADCs provide 18-bits of resolution and consume only 135µA at 3V continuous conversion. The multi-channel devices have an integrated voltage reference, programmable gain amplifier and oscillator onboard, eliminating the need for external components, providing a smaller overall design footprint and making it easy for designers to create smaller applications.

Silicon Labs Introduces Any-Rate, Any-Output Clock Generator
Silicon Laboratories has introduced a family of clock generators and buffers that provide the most frequency flexibility in the industry. Based on Silicon Labs' breakthrough MultiSynth technology, the Si5338 is capable of synthesizing any frequency from 0.16 to 350 MHz and select frequencies to 700 MHz on each of the device's four differential outputs, dramatically simplifying timing architectures by replacing four discrete phase-locked loop (PLL) devices with a single IC. Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced a new miniature photocoupler that combines transistor output with extended temperature operation and a high isolation voltage of 5000VACrms (min). Available in two DIP4 package options, the TLP781 is ideal for a variety of applications including switching power supplies, home appliances, solid state relays and office equipment. The device is also suitable for use in controller designs and for applications requiring signal transmission between circuits with different voltages.
Fujitsu launches ultra-low power full HD H.264 CODECs
Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) has expanded its line-up of H.264 CODECs with two new devices that encode and decode full high-definition (HD) (1920 dots x 1080 lines) video in H.264 format. The first of the two products to be launched, the ultra-low power MB86H55, features power consumption of only 500mW during full HD encoding including the built-in memory, an industry-leading level for low power consumption. In addition, the upcoming MB86H56 will offer processing of full HD video at 60 frames-per-second (progressive) '60p', to improve picture quality even further.
TI introduces zero-drift programmable gain amplifiers
Texas Instruments has introduced the PGA11x family of zero-drift programmable gain amplifiers (PGA) with single-ended input, single-supply operation, rail-to-rail I/O and multi-channel multiplexers (MUX). The PGA112, PGA113, PGA116 and PGA117 provide a flexible, highly integrated programmable gain amplification solution for microprocessor-based applications such as portable data acquisition, remote meter reading, automatic gain control, programmable logic controllers and handheld test equipment.
Mitsubishi's Low-Noise GaAs HEMT for Ku Band LNAs
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has developed a new GaAs HEMT (Gallium Arsenide High Electron Mobility Transistor) for the Ku band (12/14 GHz). The new device, which is named the MGF4935AM, is designed for use as the first stage in low-noise amplifiers of DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) receivers and VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) systems. A low noise amplifier's (LNA) performance depends primarily on the noise characteristics and associated gain of the first stage device.

Silicon Laboratories has announced the Si474x, what is said to be the industry's smallest, most fully-integrated automotive AM/FM radio receiver IC. Based on Silicon Labs' proven digital low-IF architecture, the Si474x family is the first automotive AM/FM receiver to be implemented in CMOS, meeting demanding automotive-grade radio performance requirements while saving cost and reducing customers' time to market. The Si474x family supports worldwide radio band requirements, including FM, FM radio data system (RDS), AM, long wave (LW), short wave (SW) and weather bands, giving customers the flexibility to support a variety of world wide needs with a single design.
